Very Nice People Society Launches SAVE STATEN ISLAND

Staten Island-NY- November 8, 2006: The Very Nice People Society (theVNPs) Has officially launched www.SaveStatenIsland.com.

Staten Islanders who are fed up with the negative stereo types portrayed in the media, most recently on MTV and in the past, are invited to take part in a new documentary style film.  Local candid video of Staten Island and her inhabitants will be shot in the upcoming weeks as the film makers create “Saving Staten Island”.

Local businesses are encouraged to take part in this adventure.  The film makers will be scouring the North Shore of the island in an effort to dispel the stereotypes that have been associated with all islanders.

Locals can sound off on camera to a list of questions about the Island.  If you are camera shy, but wish to be part, visit the forums on the website, sign the guest book or send the film makers your island photos.

The film has its own my space account: http://www.myspace.com/savestatenisland

The project is expected to be shot in little segments to be shown on the web and expanded into a full film in 2007.

The Very Nice People Society was established in 2002 by a brother and sister team from Staten Island, New York.  Mary-Ellen and Nick have been active members of their own societies, doing what they can along the way to make this world a nicer place.  They expanded the society in 2006 and developed the website.  In October, the Society launched Proud Parents Ezine, an online magazine devoted to raising children with confidence and self esteem.  The Society is also active in animal rescue and social awareness issue such as organ donation which affected their family.
